Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and his wife visited European Centre for Theatre Practices "Gardzienice",
20th June 2014, Gardzienice
President Komorowski and his wife viewed part of The PYTHIAN ORATORIO performance, then watched a film about the history and activities of the "Gardzienice" Theatre and met with the team and the local community.
The President referred to the 25th anniversary of regaining freedom after communism in Poland. He stressed that the "Gardzienice" ensemble exploited the new opportunities that emerged after the
Polish accession to the European Union well and in an "interesting" way.
It is extremely pleasing when you see a place where freedom triumphs. There is much space for authentic, deep experience of meeting people, (...) culture, which is scratched with claws somewhere from the ground, from the other people, for the gain of all.
There is something particularly important and pleasant in the environments, and in people, who consciously manage the borderland cultures, the borders not necessarily national, but also social, crossing the barriers. Because this is what freedom is about – the ability to wisely cross barriers, and here, in "Gardzienice", these barriers were crossed in an exceptionally beautiful way.I am impressed that here, in Piaski municipality, such an unusual place emerged.
Bronisław Komorowski
